I am an adult and would like to learn English - What should I do?

First - register for an English test via www.richmondce.ca in order to know where to start
Then - wait for your English test result, available within one week of assessment date
Last - take a look at our course catalogue for course and registration dates, then register for the appropriate level English course

What does the English assessment involve?
- covers grammar, reading, listening and writing
- takes two hours to complete, on a computer at the Adult Education Centre
- costs $45

You may be eligible for Ministry-funded English courses, if you are
- a Canadian citizen, or
- a Permanent Resident of Canada, or
- a refugee, or 
- someone who holds a valid work permit and are able to show proof of employment.

NOTE:  If you hold a valid study permit, you may register for our courses for a fee.

AND

can provide valid immigration documents AND proof of residency in BC (two pieces - BC ID Card, BC Services Card, BC Driver Licence, rental agreement, utility bill, phone bill or bank statement)
